We’re not sure why, but even when its close to 100 degrees out, you ladies still like to use Las Vegas as your destination wedding of choice. I guess we can’t entirely blame you, the promise of sunny weather on your wedding day is a definite perk; but there’s something else about Vegas that we think attracts the masses out here, and that’s that even the oddest of weddings are easy to plan here in Sin City.
By odd, we mean offbeat. Ideas that don’t surface normally in smaller, less eccentric towns and cities. Las Vegas has many offerings in terms of venues that brides-to-be probably don’t even know about – so let us give you an idea of who and where is looking to host your Vegas wedding.
Get Married in Graceland
If you’re surprised by this one, than you just don’t understand Vegas.
Elvis Presley is a Sin City staple, and at any given point of the day, you can see an Elvis impersonator (or, for the skeptics out there, the REAL Elvis) crossing Las Vegas Blvd. Impersonators are a-plenty in Vegas, so there’s no question as to why the option to get married by the King himself is an option.
Graceland Wedding Chapel has been in business for over 50 years, a feat that even some of the more popular resorts won’t even get to brag about. Offering a variety of packages, brides can choose some of the following options:
- Elvis will walk them down the aisle and give them away
- Elvis will sing a set of Presley’s greatest hits
- A DVD of the ceremony
- Professional photographer
- Boutonnieres
- Transportation to and from the venue
Even for the die hard Elvis fan, brides will receive a copy of Elvis and Pricilla Presley’s marriage certificate.
Choose Your Own Theme
Viva Las Vegas has taken the concept of the themed wedding and turned it on its head over, and over, and over again. Featuring over 20 different themes to choose from, the crafty minds behind this eclectic business knows what is popular and how to associate it with a wedding.
Of the 20+ different themes are:
- Michael Jackson “Thriller” Theme
- Liberace Wedding Theme
- Woodstock Theme
- Pirate Theme
- Rocky Horror Theme
- Blues Brothers Theme
With each wedding package, brides will get an official, licensed minister and, depending on the theme itself, the potential for live entertainment. Get married to the hijinks of Jake and Elwood Blues or the familiar tunes of Michael Jackson himself for a truly unique experience or, if the queen in you so desires, go for the Egyptian package and get carried into the venue atop Cleopatra’s throne.
Each theme comes with mood setters like theatrical lighting, fog, set pieces, costumes, and music that fit right into the theme itself.
When they say Vegas has a little something for everyone, this is exactly what they’re talking about.
Read Vows from the Necronomicon
Taking Sin City by storm as of late is the cast and producer of Evil Dead the Musical 4D. This ragtag group of individuals have popped up in everything from official fundraisers for the NVSPCA (Nevada Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) to out-of-town conventions. Despite running for five nights a week, they’ve still made the effort to expand their repertoire – and amongst those expansions has been adding weddings to the production’s intermission.
Evil Dead the Musical 4D invites any bride and groom with a taste for “blood” looking for a good time to utilize its main stage as their wedding venue. During the show’s halfway point, an official Deadite officiant will take the stage with the lucky couple and a small selection of bridal party members. In front of an entire audience, vows will be read, promises will be made, and a unity will be finalized.
Several packages are offered, including Vow Renewals, and each comes with perks like:
- Splatterzone seating for the bride and groom
- Souvenir photograph
- Chance to be covered in blood at the end of the “I Do’s”
With these themed wedding ceremonies in mind, it’s time to get moving on the planning. If you have a specific date in mind, it’s best to book as far in advance as possible to make sure no other traveling bride or groom snatch it out from under you.
Once you’re done getting your wedding ceremony planned and ready, come back to us and prep yourself for the bachelorette party of your dreams. If you’re going to be in Vegas, you might as well do it right!
