Fremont Street Experience Guide

When people think of Las Vegas, they most likely think of the towering mega-resorts and casinos, the flashing neon lights, and the iconic attractions that line the world-famous Strip. In an effort to revitalize Downtown and attract visitors back to this once lively area, in 1994, a five-block section of Fremont Street was permanently closed to automobile traffic. Construction began on a pedestrian mall and light show attraction now known as the Fremont Street Experience (FSE), debuting on December 14, 1995. In 2004, a $17 million upgrade was unveiled on the nine-year-old property. A 1400 ft. barrel vault electronic canopy spanning five city blocks was built over the Fremont Street Experience, featuring 12 million LED lights and a new collection of high-resolution imagery and 3D graphics.

Each year, more than 24 million visitors take in the must-see Viva Vision light shows at Fremont Street Experience, the world's largest single video screen that offers free light shows lasting approximately 6 minutes and runs every hour. The screen is 1,375 feet long, 90 feet wide, and suspended 90 feet above the pedestrian mall. It lights up Fremont Street with 49.3 million energy-efficient lamps and offers a state-of-the-art 600,000-watt, concert-quality surround sound system. In December 2019, Viva Vision underwent a $32 million renovation to upgrade the canopy with crystal clear LED lights that are 7 times brighter and 4 times higher resolution, making it a magnificent display of brilliant colors.
